Hippotherapy provides occupational, physical, and/or speech therapy while the client rides a horse. It is an up-and-coming therapy modality that more facilities are embracing and incorporating into their traditional therapy practices. This treatment strategy utilizes the rhythmic, repetitive movement of horses to improve a person's movement and function, including improvements in:
• trunk strength
• weight bearing
• motor planning
• respiratory control, and
• sensory processing efficiency
All For Kids currently partners with Equine Assisted Therapy Alaska (EATA) during the summer.
